DIY Local SEO for Roofers, Plumbers & Landscapers | King’s Arena | Hands‑On Tactics

Transcript
Matt: Welcome back to Kings arena where we help small business owners, the roofers, plumbers, landscapers, among you take control of your online growth. I'm Matt Ready and with me, as always, is my business partner, Alex McGinnis.
Alex: Hey everyone. Excited to dive into today's topic?
Matt: Yeah. So as for today's topic, it's really the power of teamwork. So SEO, it isn't a set it and forget it deal. It's a partnership. Alex and I and our team, we tackle the technical side from site audits to keyword research, backlink outreach, while you get hands on with community tactics that generate real local buzz.
Alex: Exactly. When you team up with us on the back end and take these actions on the front lines, you will see the biggest gains.
Matt: Yeah. So let's look at some concrete tactics that you can do on your own. So what you can do right now, the first thing would be is to sponsor a local team or events. So if you back, you know, the neighborhood little league team or a youth soccer team, ask them to feature your business name, your phone number and a link on their site or jerseys.
Alex: That link from a local site tells Google these folks are trusted in the community. Plus it's a great word of mouth.
Matt: That it is. Another thing that you could do too is collect Google business profile reviews. We all know how important that is, but so after a job, say it's a roof repair, a drain cleaning, fresh landscaping, whatever it is, text your customer, hey Jim, you know, glad we got that fixed or hope you enjoyed, you know, the lawn service we we gave you. Should you leave us a quick Google review.
Alex: And don't just collect reviews, reply to each one. That activity boosts your profile and near me searches.
Matt: We all know how transactional the intent behind a near me search is. So a third thing that you can do is get active in your community service. So volunteer at a food bank, sponsor a cleanup or back a charity build. Ask nonprofits to list you on their supporters page with a link back and that's going to help your SEO.
Alex: And when a reputable organization link to you, you earn serious SEO brownie points and you do some good too.
Matt: Yeah. Another thing you can do as well is partner with nearby businesses. I know this might sound counterintuitive, but if a plumber teams up with a landscaper or a roofer links up with a gutter service company and you do a joint special and swap website mentions, that's going to help boost your visibility as well.
Alex: Co marketing builds referrals and gives you those valuable local backlinks as well.
Matt: Yes, it does. So another thing that you can do as well is host a free workshop or demo. You could teach a fix your leaky faucet demo at a community center or a hardware store. They'll post that event online with a link to your signup page. And again, these are all links that are from other sites that are being sent. They're sending signals to your website.
Alex: And what this will do, it will position yourself as the expert and pick up another community backlink as well.
Matt: Exactly. Bada bing. Another thing that you can do is pitch local media and bloggers. So if you hit a Milestone, say you're 100th job in town, send a short press release. Doesn't have to be anything crazy, just, you know, hi there, we're celebrating. 100 roofs come completed in Springfield next week. Mind if I share some photos and comments? Yeah.
Alex: And if a local company runs it online, that's an authoritative backlink.
Matt: So. And authoritative backlinks are super important because basically it's a website that has more, say, dominance or trust than what your site may have. So if you get these signals from these other very authoritative, you know, dominant websites coming to your site, well, that's like a vote of confidence in Google's eyes. So another thing that you can do is maintain a consistent name, address and phone number across directories. So Alex and I and my team take care of this for you. However, if you change your business name from, say, LLC to Inc. Or any variation, I guess you change it at all or your address has changed phone number, you make sure to communicate that with us because we have to make sure that your name, address and phone number are identical on Google, Yelp yellow Pages and all these, you know, top directories.
Alex: Inconsistent info confuses Google and potential customers. Consistency builds trust and rankings.
Matt: Yes. So just a little breakdown, you know, bird's eye view of what we do for you. Alex and I and our team, we take care of technical SEO audits. So, you know, we crawl and clean up your site. We fix errors, speed things up. Mobile load speed is a crucial part to a good campaign. If someone pulls up your website and it takes too long to load, guess where they're going. Your competitor's site content, strategy and creation. So we'll craft blog posts, service pages, FAQs to target your top keywords. Backlink outreach. We'll pitch guest posts and resource mentions to industry and local sites. We'll also monitor your performance. We track your rankings, your traffic, your conversions. We use heat maps and all sorts of things to gather all the data that we can, and we'll send you reports that are easy to follow as well. But obviously, you know, if you've been working with us, you know that if you have any questions, we are more than happy to help explain things for you.
Alex: Yeah. So while you're out there sponsoring teams and collecting reviews, your site is primed to make the most of every mention and link.
Matt: Exactly. So as for some next steps, if you're watching this video, obviously you're here for a reason. You're wanting to learn a little bit more about what you can do to improve your SEO. Or you just really enjoy listening to Alex and I on this podcast. And I don't think it's more of the latter. So this week what I want you to do is pick one sponsorship, ask five happy customers for Google reviews, and reach out to one nonprofit or a business partner for a link.
Alex: And if you need a strategy or support, hit us up @digitalkingsnetworking.com/contact. We're always here to help.
Matt: Yes we are. And going off of this. So we've already put many of these strategies to work for Digital Kings Networking, and we've seen incredible results. One fun thing that we're doing now is we're actually raffling off six tickets to the Charlotte Knights game against the Round Rock Express on Saturday, May 24 at 6:05pm and we're going to draw the names out of a Digital Kings networking hat live on Monday, May 20. All you have to do is head over to our Instagram, which is at Digital Underscore Kings Underscore Networking. Follow us like the giveaway post and share it and you'll be entered to win. And that's just our way of giving back to the community that's been so gracious to us. So good luck and thanks for tuning in.
